The office complex designed by EID is located near the Huangpu River in Shanghai’s Pudong district. It faces the old 80,000-ton silo warehouse. The modern vibe of the office building contrasts strongly with the weathered warehouse.
When the interior work began, we wanted to find a feeling to express the conflict between the time and space around the site.
The interior extends the architectural tone and language. Black Lava stone was chosen as the core cladding material to represent the calm background indicating the historical barn on the waterfront. Two huge light boxes are hung to anchor the entry of the elevator lobby, creating a strong contrast with the sturdy stone.
The bronze reception desk brings some welcoming warmth into the space. Inspired by the shape of the silo, bronze tubes are used for the elevator lobby. They add an intimate detail to the lobby.
On a typical floor, the glowing lighting wall combined with a matte finish gray stone gives a sense of commercial but natural flavor.
